ABOUT ART THERAPY AND HOW IT WORKS
Art therapy is a form of expressive psychotherapy that uses the creative process of making art to improve a person’s physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
Through integrative methods, art therapy engages the mind, body, and spirit in ways that are different from only verbal articulation. Kinesthetic, perceptual, sensory, symbolic, metaphoric opportunities invite alternative modes of communication. Using the paints, plasticine, clay, images and other art materials we go directly to the unconscious walking through all the defense mechanisms of the ego. The visualized problem is no longer something ephemeral and intimidating, but an object which is ready for interaction and healing.
Art therapy allows to work with unconscious very subtly, smoothly and helps stabilize the emotional state. Unconscious speaks to us in the language of symbols. Therefore, creativity serves as a splendid tool to facilitate this dialogue. It’s very playful, natural, gentle method which allows to work with psyche on a profound levels.
Establishing a dialogue with the unconscious is important because it enables us to unravel the hidden mysteries of our psyche, comprehend our emotions and motivations, uncover latent conflicts and traumas, and become aware of and transform negative behavioral patterns. This process fosters profound personal growth, psychological integration, and a deeper self-understanding, ultimately leading to a more balanced and fulfilling life.
The creative process in art therapy doesn't prioritize the end result or your artistic skill level. Here, the aim is not to create a work of art. During the process, there's no need to worry about color combinations or technique. In this creative endeavor, the focus is on achieving different objectives:

What takes place during the sessions:
An artistic expression
In art therapy, I encourage the use of various artistic mediums, but primarily during group sessions, we work with acrylic paints on canvases. Depending on the theme, we may also incorporate regular sheets and pencils. In some cases, additional modalities may be introduced. Collaging, sculpting, crafting or tailoring - these means of self-expression are also highly effective, although they may feel unfamiliar to many. Some people may feel apprehensive and unsure of how to use them. However, I assure you that any creative medium is suitable for working with the unconscious. You'll be surprised at how wonderfully clay can address anger, sewing can awaken the heart, and collage allows you to express what is deeply buried.. Also, some complementary modalities like dance/movement, storytelling/poetry, meditation can be incorporated into the process..
Reflecting on the Artwork
We cannot create something without it resonating with us. What you craft with your own hands is a mirror of your inner state, containing hidden insights that are essential to explore. This process aids in unleashing and processing unspoken emotions, uncovering innovative solutions to various issues, and gaining fresh perspectives on your circumstances. Throughout this journey, I dedicate time to each participant to help them grasp the essence of their creation.

The program is varied from session to session depending on theme we work with. This can also involve collaborations with sound healing or breathwork journey.
In general, we also do a tea ceremony and a buffet time for establishing communication and getting to know each other.
